A clearer way to choose a pillow

Find Best Pillow is an independent US focused guide to pillow fit. We are building it because the right pillow depends on the person using it, not a single universal ranking.

Why this site exists

Hugo Ferano helped create Find Best Pillow after years of neck discomfort made sleep and everyday wellbeing a personal interest. He wanted a place that explains what pillow height and support actually mean before telling anyone to buy a product. Those questions are easy to lose in a page full of generic “best” labels, attractive claims, and retailer links. We want readers to understand how their sleep position, shoulder width, mattress, warmth preference, and tolerance for different fills can change the fit of a pillow.

Today the site offers an eight question quiz and plain language guidance. The quiz gives a profile of pillow features to consider. It does not diagnose pain or recommend a brand. Our guides will explain terms such as loft, compression, firmness, breathability, and care in a way a shopper can use. We will link to sources for claims that come from published guidance and clearly distinguish that information from our future observations.

What we cover

We focus on pillows sold to US shoppers and on the practical questions people ask while choosing one: Will this height keep my neck in a comfortable position? Will the fill hold that height under my head? Does the pillow trap warmth? What can I wash? How much does a trial or return policy reduce the risk of buying? We will describe where one answer depends on a person's position or body dimensions instead of pretending a single model works for everyone.

We also cover the limits of the evidence. A manufacturer's description is useful for identifying materials and care instructions, but it cannot replace a measurement of compressed loft or a longer use check. When a claim has not been verified, we will label it as a claim. When data is missing, we will say it is unknown. We will not turn a lack of data into a negative verdict.

How we will choose the first pillows

Our first testing round is planned for Month 2. We will choose a manageable group across common sleep positions, materials, shapes, and price levels. We will look for products that US readers can actually buy and document the version and price at purchase. The group will not be presented as a complete picture of every pillow available. We will explain why each model was included and make clear which alternatives have not yet been assessed.

We plan to measure unloaded and compressed loft, observe alignment in different positions, compare heat at set intervals, check care claims, and return for a durability check after 90 days. You can read the full testing protocol now. The first test results are planned for Month 3, once the initial measurements and checks are complete. Until then, the site will continue to present selection guidance rather than product rankings.

What we will not cover

We will not diagnose a health condition, claim a pillow cures neck pain, or treat comfort as identical for every sleeper. Persistent, severe, or worsening pain belongs with a qualified clinician. We will not accept paid placements or allow a future commission to change a score. Our revenue policy explains the present situation and how any affiliate links will be disclosed if they are added later.

Find Best Pillow is still in an early phase. We would rather state what is planned and update it honestly than claim work we have not done. If you want to ask about the protocol, suggest a question, or flag an error, send us a message. You can also read Hugo's story and our privacy notice.
